District Couple

Hello Friends,

As the holidays are almost upon us, many of us will be rushing around trying to make preparations, shop, spend some time with family, and if we’re lucky, still have time to squeeze in a few rides on our Wings. We are very fortunate to live in an area which allows us to ride on all but the chilliest of days.

In our final segment of the Couple of the Year Manual, we will look at the top ten reasons, in order of importance, that your chapter needs a couple of the year. The manual is available in its entirety at www.gwrra.org , Couple of the Year division.

1. Selecting a Chapter Couple is a great way to recognize a couple who has worked hard. Being selected Couple of the Year should be considered an honor, not a job.

2. When Chapter Couples visit other chapters, this can improve relationships between chapters, as well as increase multi chapter activities.

3. Chapter pride in their Couple of the Year helps generate chapter spirit.

4. Being selected as Chapter Couple can lead to personal growth for the couple, which may inspire them to accept more responsibility in leadership positions.

5. The Chapter Couple of the Year program can lead to more community awareness of GWRRA. Wearing vests or shirts bearing the Couple of the Year designation often causes others to ask about the title, while news stories or public appearances also increase awareness.

6. Through the District Selection Process, a Chapter Couple of the Year can help your chapter gain recognition within the District.

7. As a Chapter’s Couple of the Year visits other chapters, Couples and members of other chapters will also visit your chapter in return. The increased attendance at gatherings and events translates to increased revenue for your chapter in the form of greater 50/50 sales, increased registration funds, etc.

8. A Chapter Couple can serve as a public relations vehicle by promoting upcoming chapter events when visiting other chapters.

9. Chapter Couples can provide support to their chapter through Recruiting and Retention efforts such as contacting potential members and those about to expire.

10. Chapter Couples are very important in maintaining chapter morale, by enthusiastically cheering on their chapter staff.

These are great reasons for honoring deserving Couples in our chapters, and we are very fortunate to have so many Couples with the heart and enthusiasm to serve in the Capacity of Couple of the Year.
